Shanghai Map Art

Shanghai's grid splits cleanly along the Huangpu River, which curves sharply through the center before flowing into the Yangtze estuary. The Puxi district west of the river holds the old concession blocks and the Bund's linear waterfront, while Pudong rises as a planned grid of wide avenues and tower clusters east of the water. Suzhou Creek branches northwest from the Huangpu, its industrial heritage visible in the old warehouse corridors that now mark neighborhood divisions.
