Madison Map Art

Madison sits on an isthmus between Lake Mendota to the north and Lake Monona to the south, with the Wisconsin River entering from the northwest. State Street runs the length of the isthmus, connecting the Wisconsin State Capitol on the Mendota side to the University of Wisconsin campus overlooking Monona, dividing the city into two halves. The lakes and their shorelines dominate the map—parks and neighborhoods spiral outward from this narrow spine.
