Lake Tahoe Map Art

Lake Tahoe's street grid clings to the alpine basin's curved shoreline, following the massive lake's perimeter rather than imposing straight lines. Highway 50 bisects the town while the Truckee River channels northward from the lake's outlet, creating the only significant water course through the settlement. The surrounding ridgelines of the Sierra Nevada rise sharply on all sides, constraining development to the narrow strip between water and mountain.
