Colombo Map Art

Colombo's street grid radiates from Fort, the colonial center, with Galle Face Green opening toward the Indian Ocean and Colombo Harbor cutting deep into the western edge. The Kelani River forms the city's southern boundary, while Beira Lake sits landlocked in the heart of the old town, its edges defined by sharp orthogonal streets from the Dutch and British periods. Modern expressways now loop around the colonial core, but the grid's geometry still dominates the map.
